How to Work Hashing Ethereum

The Ethash algorithm relies on pseudorandom datasets, which are initialized by the current blockchain length. This is called DAG, and is regenerated every 30,000 blocks (or every 5 days). In March 2017, DAG - 2GB, and DAG will continue to increase in size when blockchain grows.

If Mix Digest is less than or equal to the target Threshold, Current Nonce is considered successful, and will be broadcast to the ethereum network. Otherwise, Nonce is currently considered invalid, and the algorithm is restarted with a different nonce (either by adding the current nonce, or randomly choosing a new one.
